Registration is done online through our website. Simply navigate to the "Registration Info" drop down above and click on available programs. From there you can click on the program you want to add your player to. The system will prompt you to either login or create an account if you don't have one. Once logged in, follow the step-by-step process to register your player.

While we do accept friend and coach requests for our recreational leagues, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. Player placements will be dependent upon time of registration, team capacity, age and/or gender of the player and other items written in our registration policies.

Team formation follows the following policies:

Section 1 -
A. The team formation process will occur using the following guidelines: 
     1. maintaining the same roster from the previous season 
     2.  gender 
     3. age 
     4. balancing volunteer coaches 
     5. balancing team roster sizes

B. New players will be placed on existing rosters or placed on newly formed teams accordingly. This method will continue through each age level with effort made to keep the core team from the previous season together if possible. Note:  There may be times when a team will need to be split up and the players put on different teams or when a few players may need to be moved from one team to another to ensure adequate and equitable roster size.  This will occur at the discretion of the Board.

C. A new player is defined as:
     1. a player new to NASA or
     2. a player that has sat out one or more seasons (for any reason)

D. Players registering on or before the registration deadline will be placed on the team they played with the previous season when possible.

E. Players who register after the registration deadline may not be guaranteed placement on a team, and will not be guaranteed placement on the team they played with the previous season. If a team is to be split or merged with another team, generally the team that returns the fewest team members from the previous season will be the team split up or merged.  In the case of a tie, a team or teams out of the tied group of teams will be chosen at random to be split up in order to field teams of adequate roster size. If a player is not placed then a refund will be made.  If a player is already placed on a team a refund will only be made upon board approval.
F. If the head coach of a team has decided not to continue to coach, and another head coach has not been identified to fill the vacancy, then the team will be split up and the players will be distributed over the remaining teams as groups of players, whenever possible.

G. U8 teams will consist of a maximum one head coach and one assistant coach unless approved by the Governing Board. U9 and above teams will consist of a maximum one head coach and up to two assistant coaches unless approved by the Governing Board.  Coaches must be age 21 or over.


Section 2 -
A. Any player wishing to play up must make a formal request to the NASA Governing Board.  The Board will contact coaches familiar with the player who are able to evaluate the player to determine the viability of such a request.  The Board’s decision will be final.


Section 3 -
A. If parents are dissatisfied with their current team they may petition the Board to be moved from that team.  The player will be placed on another team at the discretion of the Board

All refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted in writing to [email protected].

However, refunds will not be issued for any reason after teams have been officially submitted to Iowa Soccer for the season. This is because Iowa Soccer charges our club a non-refundable processing fee for every player registered.

Additionally, refunds will not be issued for reasons including, but not limited to:

• Change of mind or choosing not to play.
• Conflicts with other activity schedules.
• Dissatisfaction with team placement, coach assignment, or playing time.
• Player injury or illness occurring after the registration deadline.
• Relocation of family after the registration deadline.
• Failure to attend practices or games
  

Refunds requested prior to the Iowa Soccer submission deadline may be considered, subject to a potential administrative fee.

All players must wear shin guards for both practices and games, no exceptions. 

Soccer cleats should be worn by players in u9 divisions and older. Players are not allowed to wear cleats from other sports as they generally have a "toe cleat" at the front - a single spike near the big toe. This is a safety hazard and Iowa Soccer will not allow players to play with it.

A uniform is required for all age groups. Generally, this a pair of black shorts and long black socks with the team's specified jersey. U7 and U8 division players should only need one jersey. This is usually red. U9 and above, usually get two jerseys, a home and away. Links on the homepage of this website can be found and will take you to two places in Newton that sell the generic NASA jerseys. Some teams have opted to get specialized jerseys. Please speak with your team's coach before purchasing anything.

Players should bring a water bottle to all practices and games.

Goalkeepers may want to invest in goalie gloves.

Practice schedules are determined by individual coaches based on field availability and their personal schedule. Games are typically scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays, with occasional weeknight games for makeups. The full schedule is released by Iowa Soccer after teams are formed.

Games and practices are canceled for thunder/lightning, heavy rain that makes fields unplayable, or extreme heat.  Decisions are generally made by coaches.
